Music Style Not Only Modulates the Auditory Cortex, but Also Motor Related Areas

The neuroscience of music has recently attracted significant attention, but the effect style on activation auditory–motor regions not been explored. aim present study is to analyze differences in brain activity during passive listening non-vocal excerpts four different genres (classical, reggaeton, electronic and folk). A functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) experiment was performed. Twenty-eight participants with no musical training were included study. They had passively listen above fMRI acquisition. Imaging analysis performed at whole-brain-level interest (ROIs). Furthermore, competence each participant measured its relationship studied ROIs analyzed. whole showed higher reggaeton than other auditory-related areas. ROI-analysis that led only auditory related areas, also some motor mainly when it compared classical music. positive between melodic-Music Ear Test (MET) score identified findings revealed styles musically inexperienced subjects elicits Reggaeton was, among genres, one evoked highest network.
